I met Greg from time to time in London and I was privileged to be sent the draft copy of his book on 'Neoliberalism and the Working Class' approriately titled 'Kick'em. And when they're down, kick em again' which he finished in 2017 and hoped to publish. It was a massive manuscript of well over 100,000 words with 1300 footnotes, mainly scholarly references. I used to teach political economy in a university and I told him I would have loved to have had it available when I was doing so as it presented a well written and brilliantly argued intellectual alternative to orthodox academic thinking, with lots of examples drawn from the real world. Students would have loved that. Greg sent it round the publishers and got a lot of interest in it but no commitment to publish as it was they said too long and too unorthodox. It was their loss as the book would have fitted into the growing interest in the last few years in the Labour Party and outside to alternative models of economic development and political change. Much of it is still relevant, especially his sections on the planned economy, inequality and sustainable development which have lots to say about today. I still hope some of it can eventually find a publisher/outlet. That would be a true tribute to Greg and a lasting legacy from a progressive intellectual who really cared about the world.

Being best friends with Greg's daughter Sasha, I knew where she got her glow from when I met her Dad. His knowledge and intelligence will live on through Sasha. My favourite memory was when Sasha was buying her first car with her Dad and I've never heard her laugh so much when explaining everything that happened. Sasha and Marina will always be a part of my family too. Words can't describe the pain and heartache, sending condolences and love to your family. I'll always rewatch the video that you sent Sasha. Love always and forever, Syme & family xx

I got to know Greg through being a friend and colleague of Marina. I have so many happy memories of his and Marina’s warm and generous hospitality. Greg was always great company: gentle, interested - and extremely interesting and knowledgeable. His quiet devotion to his family stood out. My deepest sympathy goes to Marina and Sasha as well as to his parents and brothers and sister. Dorothy
